When we say Manhattan is full of life, we truly mean it. There is probably no better to see and feel and experience the 'LIFE' that is so typically Manhattan than to come do it, feel it, eat it, party it, drink it, live it and be it.
Manhattan weather, at this point in time, is frozen beyond belief but in lecture halls, wedding venues, museums, the atmosphere is warm. Venturing into Manhattan, even for locals from outside of the Manhattan area, requires more than just guts. Sometimes, it requires complete abandonment of sense and sensibility.
But one thing's for sure, local Manhattan folks were really geared up for the weekend performances, subway stripping and theater-going frenzy.
First off, there's the New York Times special celebration of entertainment and arts. The big names who 'dropped by' were Pulitzer prize winners, renowned names like Cirque du Soleil, Natalie Portman and Jeff Bridges, although we dare venture that we wished we were there to see Carrie Fisher, the eternal Princess Leia.
But what is even more interesting is the annual strip-fest organized by Improv Everywhere, a bunch of pepole who rallied every year to create chaos in subways all around Manhattan. Don't be caught unawares, if you are a tourist, when you see most people walking in and out of the subways partially dressed. This is their eighth time doing this and the number of participants seem to be growing intensely every year. This year, 2010, it was reported that at least three thousand people threw their pants into their bags and walked about.
And did we say that New Yorkers are really green? Now that Christmas is over, what are you going to do with that huge tree in your living room or on your porch? Over the weekend, a designated park was assigned for everyone to bring their 'used' tree. They will be recycled them into mulch which will be used to fertilize other plants on the site. Remember, there is to be no plastic there – bring your own bags.
From the 6th through to the 17th, local Manhattan folks are in for a treat because Under The Radar Theater Festival is bringing you twenty productions that has been 'under the radar' from seven countries in a celebration of the arts.
It looks like Manhattan is off to a great 2010 start and that is why you should be giving this Manhattan charter bus rental company a call right away to have your piece of the pie as well.
