K Street Mall (Sacramento CA)

When you hear the word 'mall', you would often expect a swanky place with air-conditioning and somewhere with full-on modern facilities. Therefore, I got a little skeptical about it when reading the mixed reviews about Sacramento's K Street Mall online. Some said it was a 'good historical experience' while others said it was basically, a big disappointment.

We were out on a historical hunt, therefore, we didn't mind the experience at all. If you went out to Chinatown and expected a comfortable experience, you are not going to enjoy the trip. The same goes for K Street Mall. It's old and down-to-earth. When it rains, it gets to you, so, be warned about that.

After debating about a visit to K Street Mall amongst us in the rented charter bus, we decided that we needed to go see the place for ourselves and whether it was as bad or good as people said it was. Nothing beats first-hand experience, I always say. The first impression we had was that it was a neat tourist destination that is quite touristy by nature.

Not only will you get to shop for nifty thrifty stuff here to take home with you, there are also long lines of beautifully-drawn murals on some old buildings. It was a rare sight indeed. For those who are not going to make use of Sacramento charter bus rental services, you can always count on the regional transit train to get in and out of the place. When we were there, the place was teeming with tourists from all around the world, climbing excitedly in an out of the buses they were ferried in.

There is the very special feeling of being in a place that withstood the test of time – the old town feeling, the same feeling you get when you visit Old Sacramento. The sales people we chatted to told us that K Street Mall has changed a fair bit since the old days, but at the core of it, it was intentionally left untouched by time.

The 'old town' feeling seeps into you through your every pore. Suffice to say, it is not the kind of mall for people who hunting down branded stuff.

Before you book a Sacramento charter bus rental package for a trip here, remember that this is 'lonely planet' as it gets.
