Lulu's Bait Shack (Fort Lauderdale)

When they decided to name it Lulu's Bait Shack, they weren't kidding. We wanted to have a fun, relaxing night-out during one of our many Fort Lauderdale charter bus rental trips so, one of the locals suggested heading over to Lulu Bait Shack. We got quite dressed up for it, thinking that it must be one of those high-class, elite places with a quaint name. It wasn't.
Well, it wasn't rundown or anything, don't get me wrong but it was outdoors and it's really very homely and comfy....not at all the type of elite outlet we were expecting. All the better, we say. Lulu's Bait Shack is located on Ft Lauderdale Beach Blvd, so you get the beach and lots and lots of good food. As it turns out, Lulu's is known as a foodie hang-out. Awesome!

And the other thing that really made Lulu's memorable was the friendly service we had there. If only all those wonderfully expensive diners we have ever been to in our lifetime could learn a thing or two from the waiters and waitresses here – absolutely no fanfare, friendly, warm and welcoming feeling. The nice sizable food portion ensures that you get your money's worth. You've got to try their seafood. Fished right out of the sea and onto your plate kind of good, I'm telling you! I had the Alligator Bites which was awesome.

The other thing I would like to note about our experience here is that the food is relatively inexpensive by Fort Lauderdale standards. We paid approximately something between $8 to $15 for each our dishes, so, it's affordable, nice, comfortable.

Eating inside a noisy, stuffy restaurant is the thing that we are used to doing back home so, it was quite a refreshing change to be able to sit outside to enjoy our meal and drinks. As for drinks, I sampled Lulu's Hurricane and it was amazing too but you would have to know how to hold your drinks if you want to try it.

On some days, the waitresses said, there are live bands performing for the patrons but on the night that we were there, sadly, there was none. Our luck.

All in all, it was an incredible experience. Very different from our usual experiences, however, it could be the fresh ocean air that made us feel so relaxed and happy every moment we were there.
