I remember being here as a kid on one of those holidays that my parents
take us on...Buckingham Fountain. It is a sight to behold, especially
during spring and summer. If you have never been here before, we
strongly recommend it. In fact, our Chicago charter bus rental customers
will agree with us that a trip here is worth it!
There are graceful sea horses spraying water out and into the lagoon around it reminds me a little about the fountains that they have in Disneyland. Many people (if they have ever been here) will agree that this fountain signifies Chicago...in a way. And besides, it's free.
Just a little background info about Chicago's Buckingham Fountain - Kate Buckingham not only dreamed about this fountain, it was her mission to design and build it for her brother. In 1927, her mission to create this masterpiece began. Some contended that the beautiful design of the Buckingham Fountain reminds them about the fountains that can be easily found in France. You may even think that the fountain's design is a result of inspiration derived from the ones there.
We were told, sadly so, that the Buckingham Fountain suffered a degree of neglect over the years and tourists who started to lose interest in fountain that was historically significant, graceful and gorgeous. Authorities noticed the decline and stepped in. The fountain was then renovated and fervently worked on over many years by the authorities and now, it is as beautiful as ever, returned to its former glory.
The gorgeous fountain will be lit up during the evening from May till October when the weather permits. You don't have to go near to appreciate its stunning beauty. Even from afar, from within the confines of your rented charter bus, the stunning beauty of the Buckingham Fountain will strike a deep chord within you.
Its something that the kids can see, enjoy, love and then remember. Some years down the road, when they come back to Chicago, they will come back here and remember it fondly.
Loving couples hang out here as well because it definitely a sight to behold.
