Boston Farms On Your Mind For Summer

When you think of visiting Boston MA, the first thought that comes to mind would be the historical sites and more importantly, stuff like the Freedom Trail. But it is now summer time and let me be the one to tell you that there is another side to Boston that you don't get to see during the cold winter months....and that is the glowing farms! The scenery is nothing short of gorgeous, stunning, astounding!
Even for those who are not into the whole 'nature thing' will enjoy the magnificent breath-taking views. Pastures, green farms, local food stores, organic farms, rolling fields, rivers and wild life – they're all here on the other side of Boston. I like to call it 'the other side' because it is so completely different from downtown Boston. While the city is bustling with life, people, activities and businesses, this side of Boston is serene and calming. Nature has a way of calming your nerves so, it is hard to be angry, frustrated and stressed out when you are surrounded by so much greenery.

We had the good fortune of visiting the wonderful vineyards, enjoying fabulous wine, art galleries for inspiration and then came home with a memory stick full of wonderful (and some silly) pictures. I am sure the kids will find it mesmerizing to be in a barn, especially if they have been spending all their lives in the city. Stone walls, culturally-rich buildings rings of history.

And now that summer is here and the kids are out of school, it IS time to take them on an affordable holiday.

One of the things that you might want to do (even for non foodies) is to head out to the farm, help pick out local produce and have them served to you almost instantly. There is something special about being able to pick your own food right from the ground and watch it being washed and then tossed around in the kitchen.

During our trip, since we were making use of Boston charter bus rental services, we visited quite a number of farms and one of my personal favorites is Liberty Hill Farm. They have a tour called Travel Guide to New England which is surprisingly entertaining and educational at the same time.

So, is it worth it spending your time being surrounded by boundless flora and fauna during the summer months? Absolutely! It ranks highly right up there with a visit to the beach!
