Ravinia Festival (Chicago, IL)

It would not be the truth if one said that there isn't enough parks and entertainment venue in Chicago. Sure, locals usually experience dreary weather come winter, but don't let the scarfs and boots stop you from heading out to a place like Ravinia Festival, a nice entertainment venue located just along Highland Park, a little way from downtown Chicago.
There is something magical about watching a performance or concert while lounging around on a lawn chair. Away from the air-conditioning and stale air that is usually the situation in stadiums. The air is crispy fresh (despite the cold) and it makes for the perfect excuse to cuddle up with a loved one.

We don't usually get too many chances to watch a performance outdoors despite being on the road most of the time so, we were suitably impressed with the pavilion which is bigger than I initially envisioned it to be. The lawn can seat more than three-thousand people on reserved seats.

Although the performances here deserve to be at the top of list of priorities, on the cold autumn evening when we were there, people were more keen about picnicking, selecting their favorite gourmet meal from the on-site diner. Oh, there was quite a selection of restaurants there, so, don't worry. Your meal's covered. We selected boxed meals for ourselves and quickly settled in with wine in hand.

Thank goodness for warning from a couple of local Chicago friends who 'tagged along' (more like toured with us in Chicago), we brought out own tables, candles and also a couple of our lawn chairs. Even if these items were accidentally left off your checklist of things to bring along, there are rental chairs everywhere you turn.

Non-smokers can breathe easy because no one is permitted to smoke here. We had a couple of 'aw shucks' from our groups but it DID make it better for the families with kids. The entertainment was fantastically fun but what I remember most about the trip there is the friendly environment and great people who cheered the performers on, no matter what it was that they were singing or saying. The vibe is magnetic, to say the least!

Want to organize a similar outing here in Chicago IL with your friends? US Coachways' always here to provide you with the best Chicago IL charter bus rental services that money can buy.
