Alcatraz Island (San Francisco California)

If you’re ever in San Francisco for a bus tour holiday trip, it just isn’t right to miss the chance to visit Alcatraz Island. I mean, they have a movie made right there and it says a lot about that place. It’s no longer a prison, of course, but instead, now some sort of museum. For those of you who don’t know how significant Alcatraz is to the world, it was home to some of the most insane and dangerous criminals known to humankind.

Anyway, now, it is part of National Park Service and this former prison is no longer a place where they dump criminals. There are two things you’ll love about your San Francisco bus tour stop here. One, the boat ride and Two, the highly emotionally charged visit inside the ‘jail’. Alcatraz is on an island slightly off of Californian shores, so, you’ll need to get on a boat to get to this San Francisco attraction. The boat ride is scenic and romantic…go figure. It’ll be such a huge change when you step inside the former prison. From warm and breezy to dark and chilly.

Now, let me warn you…this is not the kind of bus tour stop that will have lots of fireworks, lights, exotic cuisine and exciting people, so, don’t expect that and you should be fine. What you should expect and enjoy is the historical part of this San Francisco bus tour stop. It’s just so amazing looking into Al Capone’s cell….you’ll have to imagine him sitting there, waiting for his time to come or plotting his escape! Absolutely surreal. I don’t know about you but it will send shivers down my spine. A spineless man’s last home…think about it.

There’s going to be a lot of walking and you’ll also enjoy the photo-taking opportunities they have there. DON’T FORGET YOUR CAMERA. You’d want to go home after your San Francisco bus tour holiday ends to tell people that you’ve been to San Francisco’s Alcatraz. Better yet, explain to the kids (if they were not with you) of where you’ve been. The audio tour at this San Francisco bus tour attraction was very helpful as it drew a very frightening and cold picture for everyone. This is a huge part of American history, so, you’ll just have to make a bus tour stop at this San Francisco attraction to see it for yourself! If you’re ready for San Francisco’s Alcatraz, mark this address down, Embarcadero and Powell St, San Francisco, CA 94133.
