Does it matter that you’re not the religious type? Does it matter that you’re not even Christian? Nope. Not one single bit. Everyone on a bus tour holiday trip to
Washington DC should make an effort to visit the
Washington National Cathedral at least once. Let’s just say that you’ll be totally besotted with the place – so much so that you’d want to come back to this Washington attraction just to take more photos!
Well, for the non-religious visits, the bus tour stop here is all about
tranquility, relaxation and finding peace in a place like Washington DC
which is known for being loud most times of the day!
What’s astonishing is the fact that they took a hundred years (yes, ten decades, folks!) to finish building this Washington DC attraction and it is the sixth largest Gothic cathedral in the world! That fact, in itself, should tell you what to expect from your bus tour stop here. It’s just such a structural masterpiece with the curving hallways and walkways, the beautifully trimmed hedges outside, the magnificently created gargoyles, crypts and buttresses….they’re all just so inspiring. Not to mention that this Washington DC cathedral’s such sturdy-looking yet stunning granite columns. And of course, everyone talks about the stained glass windows but did you know that one of the windows had a lunar rock from the moon in it? Outside the lawn, you can literally see the whole of Washington DC…take some pictures here. It’s really cool!
You should also visit Helen Keller’s tomb and read a little about her; and of course, visit where Martin Luther King used to speak from…etc. There’s just so much in one place and although it’s a little ‘off the beaten path’ but it’s really enchanting!
If they have public mass, it would be the best time to attend one of their services in Washington DC but if you want to do this during your bus tour holiday trip, be sure to book a ticket early (it’s free but it’s always packed).
No admission fee but it would be good if you could give a $2 donation during your visit here. Well, if you’re ready to let your jaw drop to the ground stunned, take the tour bus to Washington National Cathedral at 3109 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC 20016-5015.
