Cooperstown and Howe Caverns Bus Tours

History of Baseball and Ancient Caverns that Will Amaze You

There is only one traffic light and Main Street is only 5 blocks long. Over the years, other influences have shaped the region and its appeal to history seekers, including the farming economy and baseball. Today, all these influences are celebrated in our history museums: the Farmer’s Museum, and the Baseball Hall of Fame. Visit Howe Caverns, New York State’s second most-visited natural attraction (Niagara Falls is #1).

Discovered in 1842 by Schoharie County farmer, Lester Howe, for whom it is named; Howe Caverns is a living, limestone cave, carved by an underground river over the course of six million years, located 156 feet below the earth’s surface. Don’t forget Farmers’ Museum! Explore our rural heritage. Turn back the pages of time to 1845 when you visit the historic and working farm. Meet the craftspeople who continue the traditions of the 19th century, learn about the life on the farm firsthand and experience day-to-day routines of rural Americans.

Standard 2 Day Package includes:

• Round trip transportation via modern lavatory equipped motor coach with climate control and video

A look at how technology has improved America's favorite sport through the film “Baseball Grows Up”. Learn about 20th century history through “A Stitch in Time.” Your baseball loving tour group can get a great geography lesson through the presentation “Baseball Coast to Coast” and brush up on their sociology through experiencing “Say Jackie Robinson.”

Communications studies are featured through “Going, Going, Gone”; Take in a little Sports Art through the feature “Painting the Corner”. And last but not least, economics studies are highlights through the “The Price is Right.”

Farmer’s Market is another fantastic venue that will be visited if you happen to be taking your tour May through December. The Farmer's Market offers a variety of local seasonal produce, prepared foods straight from the farm such as jams, jellies, and pickles; animal products, and handmade crafts ranging from candles to bird houses to quilted and other hand stitched items.

Howe Caverns is the jewel of crown of this tour. At Howe Caverns, you will go 156 feet down, that's equivalent to 15 or 16 stories, and see the amazing rock formations. You'll culminate your tour with a momentous quarter-mile boat ride on the waters of the underground Lake of Venus.
