Facts about the Texas Renaissance Festival

The basic “what” and “where” of the Texas Renaissance Festival is that:

  • It takes you back to the Renaissance era of 16th century England
  • More than 500,000 visitors arrive each year to see the New Market Village
  • The village sits on 55 acres of land
  • It is an authentic recreation of Renaissance England
  • Eight weekends in October and November, the Renaissance celebration is held, beginning October 8 through November 27

What Is There to See and Do?

You’ll see people dressed as kings, queens, lords, ladies, knights, nobles, fairies, elves, pirates and other enchanted characters. Marvelous performers, including acrobats, jugglers, dancers, musicians and magicians will entertain you. The festival features more than 200 daily performances on its 20 stages scattered throughout the village.

Shoppes and Live Craft Demonstrations by Artists and Artisans

See craftspeople blowing glass, weaving fabrics, making pottery and doing blacksmithing to name a few. More than 400 shoppes display and sell wonderful works of these artisans and artists along with other merchandise.

  • Barbarian Invasion

Food and Wine

You can attend a King’s Wine tasting where while you enjoy the evening’s entertainment, you sample seven different premium wines, paired with cheese and fruit. There’s also the King’s Feast, which is an all-you-can-eat meal served by wenches with plenty of wine and ale. Entrées include prime rib, steak Florentine, grilled breast hens and sweet pork ham served with roasted wild potatoes, mushrooms and vegetables. Top off your meal with a trio of mouthwateringly delicious desserts — crème brûlée, pomme frite (fried applies) and chocolat gâteau (cake).
