If you’re going on a long bus ride, there comes a point when you’re bored with looking out the window, chatting with people, reading or entertaining yourself with music. Granted, trips are much more fun with a group of friends or family. Even so, having some games everyone can play is a great diversion and something people enjoy.
Many of these games go by different names, and sometimes the rules vary slightly. But they are basically the same favorite games that people like to play.
The Name Game/Alphabet Game
This game was mentioned a lot on various websites. Here’s how you play:
One person thinks of a name that begins with the letter “A” and tells everyone the name. Let’s say the name is “Adele.” The next person thinks of a name that begins with “B” and for the sake of example pretend the name is “Brad.” The person must repeat the first name “Adele” and also say, “Brad.” The third person adds a name beginning with “C” and must say the three names. You continue all the way through the alphabet. Anyone who forgets to say a name is out of the game.
Here’s another variation of the game, and this version is more difficult to play. Let’s say the first person chooses the name “Adele,” then the next person must say a name that begins with the last letter of that name, which in this case is “E.” So, the person says, “Eli.” The next person must choose a name that begins with “I,” and uses “Isaac.” The next name chosen must begin with “C,” and so on. You can’t repeat any of the names used.
For even greater variety, you can limit the categories to something like cities or celebrities.
“I Spy” is a great game for people of all ages, including children. One person chooses an object everyone can see and then gives a clue so others can guess what it is. For example, “I spy something and it’s the color red.” Or you could say, “I spy something and it’s round.” You can choose to use any characteristic as a clue. It’s wise to not be looking at the object when you give the clue. Each player gets to look around and guess. Players can ask questions about the object, and you must respond with a “yes” or “no” answer. For example, “Is the object small?” The person that correctly guesses what the object is gets to be the spy and pick the next object. If no one guesses what the object is, then someone else gets a turn being the spy.
The game 21 Questions is similar to “I Spy.” The person starting the game thinks of something. Then people can ask questions to guess what the person is thinking of. You aren’t allowed to repeat a question that has already been asked. The person who guesses the right answer starts the next game by thinking of something.
The Movie Game
To play the movie game, one person begins by naming an actor or actress. The next person has to say a movie that the actor/actress played in. The following person has to name another actor or actress from that same movie. The next player says a different movie that actor or actress was in. The following person has to name a different actor or actress in that movie. If someone answers incorrectly then they have to sit out the next round.
You can either bring a bunch of Trivial Pursuit cards or you can download the game to your cellphone. Passengers play in teams. Have the participants on each side see if they can guess the answer, taking turns. The team with the most number of correct answers wins. For more games, see the website Instructables.com.
Have Fun Traveling on a Bus Charter
Group travel on a bus is a great way to pass the time while on the way to your destination.
There are also other excellent reasons why charter buses are some people’s travel preference:
- Safety. Safety tops many people’s lists and statistics show that bus charters are safer than any other form of ground transportation.
- Saving on expenses. When a group of people chips in on a charter bus, it’s a very affordable way to travel.
- Protecting the environment. Every charter bus can potentially replace 50 cars. Statistically, bus charters are even more eco-friendly than hybrid cars.
- Convenience. Anyone who has tried to get a group of people all moving in the same direction at the same time knows how hard that can be when people are driving their own cars. You’ll arrive and leave at the same time on a charter bus.
