A Brand New Look at the Historical and Agriculturally-Rich Mauldin, SC

Take the Charter Bus to Old Plantations, Historical Homes and Family-Friendly Waterparks in Mauldin, SC

Mauldin is located within the Greenville county in South Carolina and the city got its start in the late 1760s when Benjamin Griffith was awarded a land grant, the first in the region, and the city was then named after the South Carolina’s Lieutenant Governor, W. L. Mauldin, almost accidentally. The reason for the name was because the city had a railroad station in the middle of the land area and it was named after the Lieutenant because he had a role to play in getting the Greenville Laurens Railroad Company to map the railroad to the city. Over time, the city was built around the station and took on the name Mauldin almost by default. When it comes to naming the city, it was also formerly and locally known as ‘Butler’s Corner’, ‘Butler’s Crossroads’ and ‘Poplar Springs’. The Civil War took a toll on the city of Mauldin as many of the residents went to war, leaving the city almost completely empty and not completely recovering until the end of World War II. Historical sites like the Mauldin First Baptist Church was established, a new school was built (it was later destroyed by a fire) and businesses started sprouting up all around the city, encouraging a growth in the number of residents and visitors. Visitors should not miss the chance to visit the Mauldin Cultural Center at the heart of the city center, the city’s very first City Hall, Fire Department, High School and as well as the Ray Hopkins Senior Center. With the funding of and building of Brookfield Business Park, the communities enjoyed a better business environment and encouraged families to grow roots in the city, which, in part, also led to the opening of The Mauldin Sports Center. The city was the birthplace of several important people which includes basketball player Kevin Garnett, actor Orlando Jones and baseball player Al Yeargin.

The city is located strategically near to many South Carolina cities which includes Greenville, Anderson and Spartanburg, making it a popular choice for family getaways, vacations, wedding receptions, birthday parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, bar crawls, corporate outings, field trips and weekend getaways with family and friends. We, here at US Coachways, would love to be a part of your event in Mauldin and look forward to helping you find the perfect charter bus, party bus, limousine, school bus, mini bus, coach, van, corporate car and exotic vehicles to help your event become a smooth-sailing one. • Entertainment & Amusement Parks —  Whatever the activity that you are thinking of doing in Mauldin, if you can’t find it here, they are a short drive away in Greenville, Simpsonville, Anderson and Spartanburg. These closely knit communities share something in common and that’s an abundance of recreation centers and parks for people of all ages. The attraction features a large number of slides, a relaxing lazy river, surf areas and picnic areas for all to enjoy. Frankie’s Fun Park is another great recreational center for the residents and during weekends, people come for the go-karting arena, bumper boats and bumper cars, thrilling drop zone area, mini golf and batting cages. We think the open jump sessions at Gravitopia Trampoline Arena, which measures approximately 12,000 square feet, is going to be lots of fun for the entire family or you can tackle the challenging corn maze and rope climbing amenities at Denver Downs Farm, go roller skating with your friends or have a birthday party at Skateland U. S. A. and end the day with a trip to Spartan 16 Cinemas for a movie night-out.

  • Art & Culture — When it comes to cultural centers, two attractions comes to mind almost instantly - Chapman Cultural Center and Anderson Civic Center. These organizations are the very places where art appreciation programs are held and there are marked fields for sports competitions, auditorium, amphitheater and student galleries to explore. If you enjoy LIVE performances like concerts, recitals, dance programs and theatrical productions, be sure to bring the charter bus to The Peace Center while the Bob Jones University Museum and Gallery features one of the world’s largest collection of European Old Masters paintings. The collection includes internationally-renowned masterpieces from the likes of Botticelli, Rubens and van Dyck, just to name a few.

There are traditional bars, fine diners, exotic cuisine and fun new flavors all around the city center. You can sample traditional American cuisine like burger and bacon at The Turtle Shell Grill and Bar, Greek and Mediterranean dishes like empanadas at the simply-named Tato’s, delightful Mexican southern tacos with Chorizo dip at Tequilana, yummy Italian pizza and pasta at Moretti’s Pizzeria and Bar and if you are feeling like eating light, there are vegetarian meals and Caribbean delights offered by Chicora Alley. And after that, you can choose to wash it down with your favorite whiskey or beer at Dark Corner Distillery, sample some of the state’s most popular beers at Palmetto Moonshine, or head on over to the fun and friendly Growler House where there is LIVE music to go with the craft beers and regional draughts.

  • Historical Sites & Landmarks — The BMW Zentrum is the only museum of its kind in the United States and it is strategically located in Spartanburg, a neighboring city! Bring the kids out for a fun tour around the plant whereby you will get to learn, first hand, about how vehicles are constructed and there is also space for private functions like social gatherings, birthday parties and wedding receptions. To learn about the region, visiting either the Walnut Grove Plantation or Hub City Railroad Museum comes highly recommended. The historical interpretive center at Walnut Grove educates visitors about regional involvement in the slave emancipation movement and the fight for civil rights while the Hub City museum features a treasure trove of information about the history of rail travel in the region and other parts of South Carolina. If you love local history, be sure to check out the Spartanburg County Regional Museum of History which brings you as far back as when the first Spanish explorers found the city, the history of military camps in Spartanburg and an art gallery. The Anderson County Museum have won raving reviews and an Award of Achievement for the quality preservations efforts that they have made and regardless of religion, we are sure visitors will find the massive Newspring Church a stunning sight to behold! Their outreach programs have been said to attract tens of thousands of people from all around the region and once you visit the church, you will understand why.

  • Parks & Outdoor Activities — During weekends, the Falls Park on the Reedy will be filled with families and their friends who are out for a fun time bonding, walking, cycling, rollerblading or simply walking their dogs. The large open spacious park is located near the western side of Greenville. You can also hike around the 17 miles worth of trail of Swamp Rabbit Tram Trail (formed from the ruins of a now-defunct railway system), bring the charter bus to Caesars Head State Park which has a mammoth granite shelf that stands out from the rest of its surroundings or head out to the gorgeous public community garden and conservation site of Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve. The latter attraction is maintained by a passionate group of volunteers and your support in the form of a donation is always appreciated. Croft State Park, in the meantime, is a hotspot for equestrian lovers; located in neighboring Spartanburg, visitors will get to enjoy 20 miles worth of trail and sometimes, there are demonstrations and competitions. If you’ve never experienced farm life before this, then it is time to schedule a trip to Split Creek Farm where award-winning dairy products like milk, artisan cheese, fudge and other similar goat’s milk products are made. There are tours being operated and don’t forget to grab some delicious cheese to bring home with you to share with your friends back home who couldn’t make it for the trip.
